About Zalini
Zalini (real name Kevin) began his professional art career creating stunning 3D butterfly works, which quickly gained recognition and were collected across the UK and worldwide. However, after much reflection, he realized it was time to move toward something more personal—art that not only resonated deeply with him but also reflected his evolving style and creative direction.
The name Zalini is a heartfelt tribute to his family, combining the names of his three children. Alongside his wife, they have been an integral part of his artistic journey over the past few years. The name also symbolizes the energy and chaos of his innovative new technique, where unpredictability meets precision to create artwork unlike anything else.
For over 30 years, art has been in Zalini’s blood, and he turned professional a decade ago. Throughout his career, he has explored diverse styles and techniques, from metal art using grinder tools to create holographic effects, to 3D nature-inspired organic abstracts. His creative versatility and dedication to pushing boundaries have defined his artistic path.
Previously represented by two of the UK’s largest fine art publishers, Zalini now operates independently, partnering with select galleries across the UK to showcase his distinctive work. This independence allows him to connect more directly with collectors and continue evolving his creative voice.
History
With an inventive and restless creative mind, Zalini was always searching for something unique—something that would set his work apart in a world where so many styles seemed familiar. He wanted to create art that was not only visually striking but also tactile, allowing viewers to see and feel the originality of each piece.
Early scribble attempt 2018
Over six years, Zalini dedicated himself to developing a completely new technique. During one of his artistic explorations, he discovered a tool called a syringe dispenser—typically used in commercial manufacturing to apply glue with precision. Intrigued by its potential, he became fascinated by the fine, fluid lines it could produce and began experimenting to see how this industrial tool could be reimagined for fine art.
The journey wasn’t easy. Zalini spent countless hours—and most of his resources—perfecting this approach, pushing the limits of the syringe dispenser to transform it into a creative tool. Finally, after years of trial and error, he achieved something extraordinary. Confident in his results, Zalini was ready to share his groundbreaking work with the world, offering collectors art that is as innovative as it is original.
Injected Art
Zalini’s injected technique is a truly unique approach that has taken years to refine. The process involves applying extremely fine lines of paint onto a flat surface, with gravity playing a role in guiding the flow. What begins as a series of seemingly random, free-flowing lines gradually takes form, coming together as the artwork develops over time.
Using his signature syringes, Zalini aims to inject life into each piece. Layer upon layer of paint builds a remarkable depth and texture, giving every artwork its own energy and making each one a completely unique creation.
The painting process itself is a delicate balance of interpreting light, form, and shadow. Sometimes Zalini works loosely, letting the lines merely suggest the subject, while at other times he applies paint with precise intention. It’s a challenging technique where things don’t always go to plan—but that unpredictability is part of the magic of painting with a syringe!
Nature, Style, Emotion
While Zalini has painted many portraits, his true passion lies in the natural world, which takes center stage in his anthropomorphic pieces. By infusing human-like qualities into his charismatic animal subjects, he creates art that blurs the lines between nature and humanity, sparking curiosity and connection.
Zalini’s distinctive injected scribble style adds a unique dynamism and complexity to each piece, capturing the raw energy and emotions that pulse through his subjects’ faces and bodies. Through expressive eyes, posture, and subtle details, these artworks convey a rich tapestry of feelings—bridging the worlds of human and animal existence.
The use of vibrant colors set against a deep black, high-gloss background creates a striking contrast, amplifying the drama and presence of each piece. Presented in a black woodgrain deep box frame, these artworks are designed to stand out, transforming any space into one of bold personality and visual impact.
